Discovery
3-hour research sessions with 12 individuals. Moderated by Angela Jones, the users brought in their tax documents to the research center in Los Angelos. While three of us were watching in another room, the user went through the existing H&R Block tax DIY experience. Below is a sample of the existing investment experience.
What we learned needs more clarity:
Deduction types
Healthcare tax docs
Payment options (i.e. using your credit card vs. paying from your refund - why is that such a high expense?)
Process: not only is navigation is a challenge, but what documents users need is unclear. HMW incorporate a personalized checklist of sorts to give the user more confidence in their process?
HRB’s security in general. Majority of users are nervous about integrating other bank accounts out of fear of data security
Help center links to documents: they look like ads, so the user skips to the second option (which is wrong)
Benefits of Crypto - when and how should a user invest?
Upfront qualifications for certain documents, refunds, deductions, etc.
The user should not have to wait until AFTER they’ve inputted information to be told they’re not qualified for something
