Work Center is an internal desktop application used daily by employees at H&R Block retail locations. Its purpose it to organize and view different appointments, returns, schedules, contact info for clients, and more. My main focus was on the “Work In Progress” page.

Original WIP

The Work In Progress (WIP) page focused on messages, schedules, and client information. It had two vantage points: one from a tax professional perspective, and one from their leader.

Missing Information

While users were encouraged to utilize WIP for all of their work, people were drawn towards this spreadsheet instead because of the depth of information. H&R Block wanted to phase this application out, so we asked ourselves, how might we bring this information into WIP?

Exploration

Each version below has a different piece of exploration. Some focus on layout, while others focus on the best way to present information. Should we include a side panel or drop down? Would it be more effective to have tags with the most important information or icon representation? How do users prefer to read through their information? What takes priority?
